Sound RIDER! Gift Guide 2009 Part 1
GlobeRiders
Eurasian Odyssey by Helge Pedersen
Fall and winter are great times to kick back, watch a DVD and
dream about riding. And while riding in a faraway land seems
something of an unlikely occurrence, you can live vicariously
through the GlobeRiders DVD series. In the latest release, the
Eurasian Odyssey DVD follows a tour led by Pedersen from China to
Germany and the adventures that occurred along the way. Originally
shot for Speed Channel in 2002, it wasn't until now that video
producer Sterling Noren was able to re-edit the package for
consumer distribution. And like other GlobeRiders adventures, this
one shares not only details about the ride, but the fabric of the
people and traditions that make up each country along the way.

Motorcycle cooking with Monkeys and Lemmings
With the advent of the small Jet Boil and packable plateware like
Orikaso's solo and dinner sets, cooking on the road is more of a
reality than ever before. Yeah, sure, back in the day you could try
and figure out how to bungee a Coleman two burner onto a Gold Wing,
or God forbid, buy a trailer to haul all your gear, but these days
that's getting to be less of the norm with the next generation of
pragmatic riders. With this new generation of riders comes the need
for some cooking basics and Laura McClintock and Tina Hansen have
created a primer on the subject. The book, a small, pocket sized 54
pager, is called Motorcycle cooking with Monkeys and Lemmings and
includes 9 recipes. Although it's not the end-all motorcycle cook
book, there's enough here to get your mind thinking about the
possibilities.

The
Wheel Jockey
OK - if you own a chain drive motorcycle without a center stand,
you know what a pain in the butt it is to lube the chain. Some of us
own several, so compound the pain. Ready for some pain relief? You've
got it. The Wheel Jockey is a rugged roller system that allows you
to roll your tire onto it and spin it freely. No more walking the
bike around to spray the lube on your chain. In addition, it makes
cleaning both front and rear tires a snap and the rubberized bottom
insures the unit won't slip out from the bike while parked on
pavement. Small enough for the tank bag, it's a perfect companion
for any ride more than 500 miles.

Giant
Loop Great Basin Saddle Bag
At 50 liters, the Giant Loop Great Basin Saddle bag system slips
easily onto the most nimble of motorcycles. From sportbikes and
street standards, to woods bikes, small dual sports and super
motards, the Great Basin bag finally makes it possible to tour on a
small bike without a back sack. While books like
Packing Light/Packing Right spell out how to travel light and
tight, the Great Basin bag is the final link to doing so on bikes
one couldn't otherwise outfit. Giant Loop is an Oregon outfit
committed to moving the technology of motorcycle packing forward.

Sea to Summit Guide Map Cases
When
Cycoactive/Touratech discontinued their practical atlas case we were
left hung out to dry as no one else had anything like it. Now, the
insightful minds at Sea to Summit have stepped up to the plate with
the all new Guide Map Case series. Those familiar with Sea To Summit
may already be aware of their
See Pouches, which allow a rider to neatly pack their gear into
a see-through Urethane pouch (no PVC). The Guide Map Cases come in
small and medium sizes for folding maps and books, and a large size
to accommodate atlases.
