Team Oregon Rider Passport

A handy go-along for every rider

Years ago when I took my beginning rider course, we got a piece of paper with a discount at a nearby dealer for common riding gear. Helmets, jackets, and gloves. Nothing for pants and boots.

That was in the late 1990s.

Team Oregon has upped the ante with their Rider Passport booklet, provided to each student who takes any of their courses taught statewide in Oregon. Inside you'll find multiple discounts offered by select dealers all around the state, as well as some online moto stores. And it's not just savings on gear, but special offers if you buy a new bike from some of the local shops.

But there's more to it than just discounts and offers.

The passport booklet is designed to encourage riders to dig deeper into the finer points of riding.

Toward the back of the booklet there are sections you can fill out to track your progress as a rider. Here you'll note your first 100, 250, 500, and 1,000 rides. Team Oregon provides a list of 11 destinations scattered throughout the state to give you a few ideas on how to accomplish each milestone.

TOR takes the TCLOCS system and amps it up with 11 service points you should check weekly, with each wash, and annually. If you have more than one bike (about 11% of us do), you're in luck as two identical checklists are provided).

Some wise sayings known by more savvy riders are scattered throughout the passport.

The passport is printed on high gloss paper, but we'd advise you to store it in a zip-loc freezer bag or something similar to protect it from the elements and excessive wear and tear.

At Sound RIDER!, we've been supporting this program since it began in 2018. It's fun to see how it has  evolved.

Team Oregon classes are not just for Oregon residents. Anyone can sign up for classes and travel in for training ranging from beginner to advanced and even 3-wheel training.

Passports are also available to any rider who visits the Team Oregon office in Corvallis, or check in with them during an event they'll be at in the future, noted in the calendar on their website.
