Alki Sport Bike Show & Food Drive
Popular
annual event returns for it's 8th year
The Sport bike Show & Food Drive is an event whose roots go back to
1997. Each summer riders meet on Alki to socialize and drop off cans of
food for Northwest Harvest.
Created by and for Western Washington's organized sport bike clubs, the main
organizer, Bret Nielsen (at right) of Fueled Productions, has kept in the tradition of
holding a familiar gathering of sportbike enthusiasts from all over our
state.
This annual show brings together dealers, businesses and
the sportbike community providing riders and clubs a chance to share new stories,
promote sport bikes, and actively support our community food banks through
canned food donations.
The event is the perfect back drop to catch up with friends and enjoy great
BBQ while strolling amongst fellow enthusiasts and motorcycles.
Past years (weather allowing) have drawn over five hundred bikes and riders
with a walk through of well over three thousand!
Local media including television, radio and print have continued to support
and cover this event. "It's a great event which gives 'us' the
sport bike community, a chance to have our 'own' event and help put
positive light on our misunderstood sport!" points out Nielsen.
This year's event is being held on Sunday July 17th, 2005 from 10am to
3pm at the "promenade area" on Alki beach in West Seattle. Please
bring canned food donations and enjoy free BBQ, sport bikes, and friends.
This year the event will also allow public sportbike
parking at the actual venue, a $2 parking donation will help support NW harvest,
save you from the hassle of street parking and give non-registered riders front
row access to the action and sights.
Whether the sun
shines or not, you can bet it's going to be a great day of motorcycling. SR!
