Cascades Motorcycle Safety teams with Sound RIDER! for spring motorcycle seminars

In an effort to expand their offerings, Cascade Motorcycle Safety will be hosting a series of seminars this spring. The seminars are free and open to 20 participants. All seminars begin at 1:30 p.m. at their Anacortes location and run about 2 hours.

March 4^th: The Weather & Beyond

We can all learn more about how to dress for weather, how to combat its pressures and how to prepare ourselves in advance of a hot or cold weather ride. Our seasoned presenter today spends an average of 10,000 miles a year riding in the Pacific Northwest and has been through it all – from rain, hail and snow, to smoking heat and high winds. The seminar begins with a Q&A among the group and then we’ll venture into even more moto wisdom as we explore – The Weather & Beyond.

April 15^th: Northwest Moto Touring

Are you ready to explore the roads less traveled? The Pacific Northwest is packed full of world-class riding both on and off road. In this seminar we’ll explore some of the coolest places to ride where the roads have names and not numbers. The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Oregon’s Cascade and Coastal Ranges, Idaho’s stunning Scenic Byways, Washington’s lush coast and desert interior, and more are in store. No doubt, you’ll get a few ideas of where to plan an upcoming trip sooner than later.

May 13^th: Motorcycle Packing – what to take – when and why?

Confused about what gear you need to have on-board when you’re riding? Many riders are. And while there’s gobs of hear-say wisdom online about the subject, there’s nothing like being in the room with a seasoned pro you can interact with. During this seminar, participants will learn the essentials for a day ride, overnight ride and multi-day touring experience, and how to make it all fit. Attendees each get a packing list they can dissect to create a list unique to their needs.

About the presenter

Tom Mehren is the publisher of soundrider.com, a free on-line magazine that focuses on riding motorcycles in the Pacific Northwest. His insight about riding locally and motorcycle wisdom in general has benefited thousands of riders since the publication’s inception in 1999.

Mehren has written six travel books about riding in Washington and Oregon, runs the Road Trip and Sasquatch 5-day tours annually and puts on the 5-day Rally in the Gorge in Hood River each summer. He has also written a book on motorcycle packing with his popular Packing Light/Packing Right book.
