How to fill your weekends up with a month of fun

Old bikes. Some folks just can’t get enough of them. You see the lookie-loos walking the streets of Ballard during Backfire Moto night, then they turn up in Tacoma taking in the two-stroke smoke that permeates the air at Grit City motorcycle night, and there’s always a good crowd in Georgetown during their monthly old bike night as well.

If you love looking at old iron, or getting your fingers gritty with an old bike of your own, there’s a four-week window of fun coming your way.

Saturday 4/23 – Washington Vintage Motorcyclists 13^th Annual Swap Meet

This event is held at the Skagit County Fairgrounds in Mount Vernon, includes a good amount of vendor spaces, and a live auction. The gates open at 8 a.m. and you will want to arrive early as the good stuff goes fast.

Sunday 5/1 – 30^th Annual Classic & Vintage Motorcycle Swap Meet and Show 'N Shine

Now in its 30^th year, this is the big one for the Vancouver B.C. area. Held at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds in Surrey B.C., you’ll find more than 125 vendors featuring bikes, parts and memorabilia from American, British, European, and Japanese makes.

Saturday 5/14 – 2^nd Saturdays at WAAAM

Hood River's Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum opens their doors the second Saturday of each month and brings out not only the old bikes, but many of the planes in the collection, all of which fly. It makes for a fun day as the weather continues to get nicer and there’s enough going on you might even want to load up the sidecar and bring the kids.

5/22 – Oregon Vintage Motorcyclists Show & Swap

Benton County Fairgrounds in Corvallis is where you’ll find the old iron on the last stop of this rollicking tour of old bikes. This year’s show features Honda as its marquee brand, so if you've got a nice old one, ride it in.
