Pop Dreyer Award

Dave Wendell Honored By USCA Sidecar Safety Program

Each year the USCA Sidecar Safety Program presents the Pop Dreyer award to an individual who has demonstrated exemplary service to sidecar motorcyclists. The Pop Dreyer perpetual trophy is a plaque containing the names of those who have received the award over the years, and includes an original Dreyer badge provided by the Dreyer family.

The 2001 recipient of the Pop Dreyer award is David Wendell (right), manager of the national Sidecar/Trike Education Program based in Seattle, Washington. The award was presented at the State Motorcycle Safety Administrators Conference in Reno, Nevada, August 19. This year, the new book "The Pop Dreyer Story” by grandson Mike Dreyer was presented with the award.

Wendell simultaneously manages both the two-wheeler and three-wheeler training courses offered in the Seattle area, and also manages the national sidecar/trike curriculum and instructor certification. Due to his efforts, 10 states have either included or are in the process if including three-wheeler training into their rider training programs. Sidecar/Trike training is totally independent of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and is self-funding.
