Giant Loop 2017

The expansion continues

Now into their 10th year, Bend, Oregon's Giant Loop remains a strong player in the after-market storage category.

Originally launching in 2008 with a wrap-around storage tube made from truckers tarp, the company has come a long way, expanding into street-to-dual sport conversions, ATV and snowmobile storage systems, and the addition of a number of assorted sundries dual sport and adventure riders need.

The latest homespun developments include two soft pannier systems.

The first release was the Round the World Pannier system which features a whopping 90 liters of storage space. When paired together with a top bag, that's plenty of room for any moto-traveler to store necessary items and then some. Weight? Glad you asked. Compared to aluminum or metal boxes, a set of RtW panniers weighs a mere 13 lbs.

Next came the smaller MotoTrekk Panniers rated at 42 liters of storage between the pair. These clock in at just 6 pounds total for the pair! The units are fully waterproof, built using 500D PVC tarpaulin fabric.

To use soft panniers such as these, an 18mm, 15mm or 20mm mounting system is the best way to go. Many are available for many models built by Happy Trails, Touratech and others. Giant Loop offers an adapter system and also stocks a similar system from Happy Trails and Touratech, in the event their own is out of stock.

For the rider who needs just a skosh more storage, GL has upgraded their Possibles Pouch to be fully waterproof. These can be affixed to the top of any panniers - soft or hard, used as a tail pack or tank bag. They have a holding capacity of 3 liters, which is enough space to store a tire pump/repair kit/gauge, evaporative cooling vest, spare tubes, small fuel canister or other small space sundries. It's versatile too by virtue of its ability to adapt to other sports such as kayaking, snowmobiling, ATV/UTV and more.

Also for 2017, GL has upgraded their Coyote and Great Basin Saddle Bags. For the Go Light, Go Fast, Go Far rider who enjoys a smaller dual sport or off-road motorcycle, these systems are the perfect fit requiring no additional hardware to mount. Just mount them to the existing frame and go.

The Coyote provides 39 liters of storage, while the Great Basin will provide up to 60 liters.

Giant Loop continues to support the Sound RIDER! Rally in the Gorge as well as hosting their own ride and rally each spring near Summer Lake Oregon. You can experience their gear in person at numerous dealers and a number of rallies in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
