Northwest Volcanoes & Coast Tour 2018

Combines Best of Three Pacific Coast States

Veteran motorcycle tour operator Karen Thomson of Avid MotoTours is partnering with Tamela Rich, a television travel expert and motorcycle tour guide, for a September tour of the legendary coastal and mountainous roads of the Pacific Northwest. Tour dates are Sept 4-14, 2018.

The itinerary includes over 450 miles along the Pacific Ocean, eight national forests (including the Redwoods National Forest), and eight volcanoes:

• Mt St Helens
• Mt Shasta
• Lassen Peak
• Lava Beds
• Crater Lake
• "Three Sisters”
• Mt Jefferson
• Mt Hood

“We designed the tour so that our guests wouldn’t have to choose between the region’s gorgeous coastline and its exciting volcanic region,” says Thomson, a Washington resident who has traveled the region extensively since her childhood. “This tour covers it all.”

Adds Rich, “Visibility on the coast is better in September, family RVs and SUVs are back at home for the school year, and the weather in the high desert is more temperate. There couldn’t be a better time to tour the Pacific Northwest.”

The Northwest Volcanoes & Coast Tour begins and ends at Tigard, Oregon, where rental bikes are available from MotoQuest for those who want to travel in by air.

Karen Thomson has been riding motorcycles since 1976 and leading motorcycle tours since 1998. A former Motorcycle Safety Foundation instructor, she has ridden nearly 400,000 motorcycle miles in the United States, Canada, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, and Italy.
