Sound RIDER! is for sale!

25 years ago, I had an idea to start an online magazine about motorcycling in the Pacific Northwest. I sat down over a few days and crafted a business plan identifying potential revenue streams, projecting income and expenses, identifying competition, and all the things you do when you write a proper business plan. 25 years later – we’re still here!

And after 25 years, it’s time to pass the torch to the next enthusiastic entrepreneur who wants to keep riders excited about the sport they love, bestow some useful knowledge that will enrich their riding experience, teach them the finer places to ride, run a few annual events, and make a living doing it.

So, what’s the selling price? That will be determined between myself and the potential buyer once they complete a proper business plan and present it to me. Sound RIDER! will be sold based on net potential moving forward as is determined in the business plan. The new owner should also posses a four year or higher college degree in business and have a financial backer.

Revenue streams over the years have included:

  • Online advertising sales
  • Online store sales
  • Used bike advertising
  • The Rally in the Gorge ticket sales
  • Annual Road Trip tours
  • Annual Sasquatch Dual Sport tours
  • Café to Café Grand Tour sales

So, as you can see, it’s not just an online magazine that is for sale here. It’s a collection of revenue streams that service the Pacific Northwest riding community. They’re all money makers when executed well.

One of the assets included is the entire editorial archive for the past 25 years. Many of the stories are evergreen and can be refreshed for republishing providing a wealth of articles to keep the magazine published monthly as you begin to put together new articles.

One component the new buyer will need to provide is a refresh of the site in a standard format such as WordPress or Wix, or create your own. The ASP.NET format we currently use is a decade old and not intuitive to the average user.

As part of the agreement, you get access to me as a consultant for 12 months after the purchase so you can bounce ideas off me and learn how we made each component work successfully.

If carrying on a 25-year tradition of providing motorcyclists in the Pacific Northwest with the editorial, events, and insight to make the most of their rides, and make a living doing it is your next adventure, touch base with me and let’s take it from there. Business plans can be sent to sreditor@soundrider.com.
